Skate Lesson Information

We offer group inline and roller skating lessons for only $38.00! Our 4 week classes also include admission to the 2 hour public skating session immediately following the lesson.

Learn to skate with us in our exciting lesson program for all ages taught by experienced and knowledgeable skaters. In this popular four week program you will learn the basics of skating as well as some more advanced techniques and skills. The program is open to beginners and intermediate skaters eager to learn how to skate using regular roller skates (quad) or inline skates (roller blades).

The registration fee includes four weeks of skating lessons and your skate rental if needed. Students may bring their own skates, but they must be approved by the instructors. Personal inline skates with plastic wheels tend to slide across our floor making it difficult to learn and you might be asked to use our skates.

What to expect from your lesson:
These are group lessons and we try to keep each class together as much as possible. On on the first day of class we will put all the skaters together and the instructors will evaluate their skill level and split them into different classes. From there each instructor moves their class to a different part of the rink to begin the lesson. Lessons last about 40-45 minutes and includes a 10 minute warm up/review, 30 minute lesson, & 5 minute free skate. Each class is run based on the skill level of the group. If most skaters are struggling with basics learned on day one they will spend a little more time on reviewing and practing that lesson during week 2 before moving on. A solid foundation and understanding of the basics are the best way to make skating fun, easy, and enjoyable. If you or your child is taking longer to learn the material do not rush, sometimes it just takes a little more practice. Although these are group lessons our instructors will individually help skaters throughout the class correcting what might be wrong or showing a technique to help improve a skill they are close to mastering. It is recommended that you let your child learn without you on the floor with them so they have a better focus and stay with the group.
Beginner skills taught include:
Balance
Standing up
Falling down
Forward skating
Backwards skating
Intermediate skills taught include:
Breaking using stoppers
Breaking without stoppers
Crossovers
Side pushing
Moving through crowds
